Summer Reading
Summer Reading Assignments
Research shows that children who read during the summer are better prepared for the new school year. Students who do not read over summer break can lose up to two months of reading skills and run the risk of falling behind their classmates. Children who do read over the summer can gain at least one month of reading proficiency.
At FCS, we recognize the value of reading. Students in grades 1st through 12th are required to complete a summer reading assignment. Summer reading assignments are due when school resumes in August.
